CO-CREATING A UNIVERSE

BATTLETABS CARDS

Collectible Trading Cards

We absolutely love building BattleTabs, a casually competitive game that over a million players have enjoyed. Even more importantly, we LOVE seeing what a dedicated player community can do;  hosting tournaments, creating fan art, building awesome projects, modding, writing fan fictions/wikis, drawing comic strips, testing the game, proposing gameplay suggestions, the list goes on! There is a huge amount of creativity and we absolutely love it.

“Come for the game, stay for the community”

With all the wonderful things you all have made, it struck us - can we build a long-lasting franchise by co-creating with you? How can we build a collaborative ecosystem around BattleTabs that includes everyone? Great games foster great communities, is there a way we can tie everything together and have the community building towards the same goal?

This is where BattleTabs Cards comes in.

BattleTabs Cards are digital collectible cards that you can trade with other players. They will be released in Sets, where each set will feature a particular theme or art style. Every Set will be limited in quantity, and cards will have different rarities.

Outside of their intrinsic value in looking amazing, cards will also provide unique benefits in BattleTabs and other experiences we have in production. For example, you may craft a special cosmetic item or a ship skin in BattleTabs using a combination of cards, then display or trade the crafted treasure inside your own 3D sandbox! Watch as the newly crafted item comes alive with special animations and behaviours.

Additionally, BattleTabs Cards can be freely built-upon without any intervention or restrictions from us. Say you have a fantastic idea for a new game, you can team up with your friends, use the exact same "shared card database" that we use!

You could host tournaments with these cards, perhaps charging players a Common card to enter the tournament and setting Rare cards as a reward for the winners.

Say you have a vast stack of cards saved up and want to give some to helpful members in the community, you can do that with cards too!

We are working on plans to support active participants who are building this BattleTabs Universe with us. And we are planning on creating open-source tools and utilities for popular game engines to make it easy to get started building.

We are super excited about this direction for BattleTabs and Gangubsters and hope you are excited to come on this journey with us too!

note: all images are work-in-progress, we just couldn’t help but share what we are working on ;)

FAQ

  • BattleTabs Cards are the connecting tissues in the games and experiences we are working on (one we will be showing soon), and we will support other creators and developers to integrate BattleTabs Cards into BattleTabs-related projects!

  • BattleTabs Cards will not be required to play BattleTabs! We design the cards so that people who want to expand their enjoyment of the BattleTabs brand can have more, and we are not taking anything away from BattleTabs itself. Our first priority is still to have a game that many people can easily access and enjoy.

  • Yes. Blockchain is a technology we have been investigating for the past 1.5+ years. We are mostly interested in how this technology can contribute to the overall gaming experience, and found that there are unique features, such as its composability and interoperability, that allow us to co-create a game with the community in a new and innovative way, potentially opening doors for us to open-source a lot of what we do, and provide new models away from lootboxes for free-to-play games.

  • We want to make sure we build this out responsibly, and have chosen Solana and Tezos for their energy efficiency and speed.
